Roles and Permissions
VOGSY uses the concept of roles to describe different sets of permissions that authorize users to perform certain actions and tasks. Roles give the support staff the ability to control what employees can and cannot do within VOGSY.
Roles
Each employee in VOGSY has at least one role. Depending on your role, you are restricted to edit information in VOGSY. Employee roles can be edited in the back office. This allows you to manage editing and approval rights of information in VOGSY. In order to promote transparency, employees are not restricted from viewing information in VOGSY.
VOGSY distinguishes the following five roles for employees:

Professional
Those with the Professional role are responsible for performing work that is directly billed to the customer. They cannot create projects and they can only edit an opportunity or project if they are part of the project team. They have no access to the back office. Consultants, developers, and engineers should be assigned this role.

Account Manager
Those with the Account Manager role are responsible for getting customers. They can create and edit opportunities and they can create projects. They can generate and approve quotes. They can only edit projects if they are part of the project team. They have no access to the back office. Account managers and sales staff should be assigned this role.

Project Manager
Those with the Projects Manager role are responsible for setting up, staffing, and completing projects. They can create projects, and they can edit a project if they are on its project team. They can also approve draft invoices, purchase invoices, and working hours. Project managers, production staff, and account managers should be assigned this role.

Manager
Those with the Manager role are responsible for running your company. They can view and edit all organizations, opportunities, and projects. They can also approve quotes. Managers, directors, and those with C-level job titles should be assigned this role.

Support staff
Those with the Support staff role perform administrative tasks in the back office of your company. Therefore they have full editing and back office permissions. They also manage VOGSY itself and VOGSY users. They cannot approve quotes, invoices, or working hours. Finance staff, Controllers, and Bookkeepers should be assigned this role.
Permissions
Now that you have an understanding of the different roles in VOGSY, you might want to know what permissions are assigned to each role. This section should answer that question.
Team dependency
The create, read, update, and delete (CRUD) permissions for organizations, persons, opportunities, and projects depend upon two elements:

The assigned role(s) of the employee.

If the employee is a team member of the organization, opportunity or project affected by the CRUD operation.
The employee must satisfy both requirements to be able to perform the CRUD operation. For example, if she has the Account Manager role but is not a team member of 'Project A', then she cannot delete 'Project A' from VOGSY.
